Cutting and Slitting Equipment

Each type of equipment serves a different stage of the production process:

- Paper cutter (guillotine): cuts stacks of pre-cut sheets into precise sizes. Ideal for finishing small and medium volumes, such as offset prints, magazines, and books.
- Roll cutter (slitter): divides jumbo rolls into strips or smaller sheets, ideal for continuous large-scale production, such as A4 paper factories, labels, and flexible packaging.
- Rotary cutter (rotary die cutter): uses circular blades for high-speed longitudinal and transverse cutting. It is the choice for processing rolls in large runs, such as corrugated boxes and packaging.

Selection tip: if your raw material arrives in sheets → guillotine; in rolls → slitter; for cutting complex shapes at high speed → rotary.

Cutting precision depends on three main factors:

1. Stack pressure system: a cutting table with uniform hydraulic pressure prevents sheet displacement during cutting, ensuring ±0.2 mm tolerance.
2. Blade quality: high-hardness steel blades (HRC 58–62) maintain the edge longer, reducing burrs.
3. Feed mechanism: servo-controlled systems offer superior precision compared to traditional mechanical systems, especially for small batches with frequent format changes.

The choice depends on the type of packaging:

- Slotter: creates cuts and creases in corrugated board for shipping boxes (RSC). It is more economical for high volumes and standardized formats.
- Die-cutting machine: allows custom shapes, windows, handles, and complex details. Ideal for retail packaging, displays, and premium products.

Practical rule: simple shipping boxes → slotter; packaging with distinctive design → die cutting.
